Your drivers may have been downloaded from the manufacturer's website. You can update your drivers by downloading them again from your computer. Drivers can be found by the manufacturer's website, or by locating your device on the list of supported and compatible products for your model. As you view the list of compatible and supported products for your device, you'll notice that the manufacturer's website is listed as "Device compatibility". Before you begin the process, we recommend that you run a device check on your device to ensure that your drivers are correct for the device model that you are downloading.
A common problem is that the drivers that you have installed are the correct driver for the HP Deskjet 825c, but the manufacturers website is not showing your model as being compatible. This is because there are different levels of drivers in the world of Windows and Linux OS. Windows users are operating with three different classifications of drivers. Windows XP and Vista users operate with a Driver Manager, Windows 98, Windows ME, and Windows NT users operate with a legacy driver and Windows 2000, Windows Server 2008, Windows 7 and Windows 8 users operate with a Windows Driver Framework. This has caused confusion for many people when they attempt to install a driver for their HP Deskjet 825c.
They then either download a Windows Driver for their model or a Windows driver for an older version of Windows. The simple solution to this problem is to use the Driver Manager in Windows XP or Vista. Click the Start button and type "Driver" in the Start search bar, then right-click on the Driver Manager link.
Select "Update Driver". This will begin the process of finding and installing the newest driver available for your computer. You will be prompted to provide your name, computer manufacturer, and computer model. Then click "Next". You will be given a list of compatible and supported devices for your computer.
If there is an update available, then it will be listed. Click on "Update Driver" and you will be prompted to find a driver. Select "Browse my computer" and then browse to the location of your HP Deskjet 825c. If the driver is available, select it and click on "Next".
If the driver is not available, you will be prompted to try other drivers for your device. Follow the prompts and then click "Next". You will be prompted to allow Windows to install the new driver. Once you have installed the new driver, follow the on screen directions to restart the device.
